"Fading" and "Revenge"
By Chelsea Guo

Fading
The earth puts on a heavy white cloak,
dressing the ground,
and white dreams arise.

We sigh painfully
as the chill runs through our backs
and attacks
the little creatures.

We can feel the pain
of the trees
as their abundance dies out.
The once green treasures
gone and buried.

We hear the gentle whispers
of the tender flowers that
cry out in pain
and then fade.

The magic of the beauty,
of the jewels-the petals
disappear.
The last drop of color fades
as they droop.

All that was once beautiful is gone.
It will return,
the beauty,
sometime.
But until then,
we wait.

Revenge
Revenge
a sprout,
a speck of green,
announces itself.

Fighting,
it makes its way through the frost,
the warm glow
of its presence wins
against the cold.

How beautiful,
how precious is this victory.

We hold our breath
as the battle for spring holds on.

We release
and sigh relief
as the precious emerald beams.

Encouraged,
the flowers stand straight
like statues
and shake off the cold.

Hope flies through the survivors
as color overpowers the white as revenge,
when white took out all color.

Hope still exists.

And now,
it is no longer just a glimpse.
